Wildfires in the U.S. Are Widespread

California - Montana

A.S, DTulis.com - Wildfires sparked by high winds and hot weather have expanded dramatically in California and Montana, forcing the evacuation of more than 100 homes.

In northern California, the McKinney fire engulfed 72 square kilometers of land on Saturday (7/30) morning, after beginning on Friday (7/29) in the Klamath National Forest.

While in Montana, a wildfire multiplied to more than 15 square kilometers in the towns of Elmo and Flathead Lake.

About 321 kilometers to the south, Idaho residents received evacuation orders while the Moose fire in the Salmon-Challis National Forest burned 173 square kilometers of land near the town of Salmon.

While fires are rampant in the western U.S., the House on Friday (7/29) approved legislation aimed at helping communities in the region deal with devastating wildfires and droughts - triggered by climate change - that have caused billions of dollars in damage in recent years.
